Yooo!!! An awesome but slightly succinct mini-documentary on the great memories of Landlord Jim’s, the cultural beacon it was for its relatively brief span. Its short because this documentary CANNOT do enough justice to the euphoric/special place it was; so many memories and great feelings. Ask me in person about the first time I went to Landlord Jim’s someday and I may tell you about how I met Sara Hildreth, the owner…
Maybe life has changed more than I would care to admit. Maybe I’m a little too old for wilin’ out anymore or possibly the City of San Diego has tried with smothering success to control great venues where people feel free, comfortable and reasonable. Maybe being there at the right place at the right time is all it was in a City void of free, cultural direction. For me, Landlord’s was the Gold Standard for nightlife in downtown San Diego because you could come as you were, no money to get in, great music and a camaraderie with similar people enjoying a unique experience there.
I cherish my time there and use my glass on special occasions…Landlord Jim’s roots and branches have spread throughout the incredible connections I still have from the people, music and memories

This album was released 20 years ago last month…it still sounds great and its nice to revisit this behind-the-scenes video about the same time period; I watched it on VHS when I was 16 hahahahahahahaha. I am reading Anthony Kiedis biography and thought of this and its amazing something you remember watching almost two decades ago is at your fingertips on the internet
